Which telescopes does Night Window support?

Night Window has profiles for the DWARF 3, DWARF Mini, Seestar S50, Seestar S30, Vespera II and Vespera Pro, plus a general profile for any other telescope. The profile sets the field of view and capture tips that Night Window uses when it ranks targets.

The Darkroom is tuned on DWARF 3 stacks. It also opens other FITS files, PNG and JPG.

Is there an Android or iPad version?

No. Night Window is iPhone only.

Where do I find my DWARF FITS files?

Upload your DWARF session to Stellar Studio, run the standard processing, and download the result as a FITS file. Save it to the Files app on your iPhone, then open the Darkroom in Night Window and tap Open image.

How do sky masks work?

A sky mask is a record of what blocks your view from one spot: trees, rooftops, hills. To make one:

  1. In Settings, tap Saved locations, then Add location, and name the spot.
  2. Tap Scan My Sky. Turn slowly in a full circle and trace the top of the trees and roofs, either through the camera viewfinder or by tilting the phone.
  3. Review the skyline and adjust it if needed, then save.

Night Window then marks targets that are hidden behind your obstructions and tells you when each one clears them. When you open the app at a saved location, it switches to that location's sky mask automatically. The camera is used only for the live preview. No photos are taken or stored.

Does Night Window upload my images or location?

No images ever leave your iPhone. For the weather forecast and your town name, only an approximate location (rounded to about 1 km) is sent. The privacy policy has the details.
